CALGARY -- It wasnt a pretty win, but the Calgary Stampeders will take it. Victor Valdes Jersey . Rene Parades kicked the game-winning field goal in the fourth quarter before the Calgary defence came up big to preserve the victory on Friday as the Stampeders hung on to edge the Hamilton Tiger-Cats 10-7. "A win is a win," said veteran Calgary defender Brandon Smith, who combined with Micah Johnson to make the game-saving play late in the final frame. "As a defence, as long as we can limit the offence from scoring, thats an accomplishment in its own. As you see, we stopped them from getting in the end zone and we won 10-7. We dont care exactly how we win. We just care about the win. Thats the most important thing. The Ticats had a chance to tie the game, but kicker Justin Medlock was unable to kick a 29-yard field goal due to a botched snap. Quarterback Dan LeFevour, who was the holder on the play, tried to run the ball instead, but was flattened by a big hit from Smith much to the delight of the 27,546 fans in attendance at McMahon Stadium. "Micah, if anything, was there first," said Smith. "I did my part. Micah caused it. I had the opportunity to step up and make a good hit. I just seized the opportunity." Brad Sinopoli scored his first-career CFL touchdown on a 26-yard run in the second quarter, while Paredes atoned for an earlier miss by kicking a 39-yard field goal, which stood up as the game-winning points. A week after throwing four touchdown passes in Calgarys 34-15 road win over the Toronto Argonauts, quarterback Bo Levi Mitchell failed to find the end zone against Hamilton. Mitchell still completed 19-of-34 passes for 196 yards as the Stamps improved to 3-0. "At some point we found some holes in the defence, got some first downs, got the field goal when we needed it and obviously a huge play by Sinopoli and then just a great play by the defence at the end of the game," Sinopoli said. "The defence, they stepped up at every single play when they had to. That was the biggest thing for us was watching those guys have our backs time and time again when we werent at our best." Medlock kicked a pair of field goal and added a single to account for all of Hamiltons points. Jeremiah Masoli made his first career CFL start at quarterback for Hamilton (0-3) and completed just nine-of-19 passes for 107 yards and an interception before being replaced by LeFevour in the third quarter. LeFevour completed nine-of-11 passes for 76 yards in a relief appearance. "Weve just got to keep fighting," LeFevour said. "Its early in the season - three games in. Theres a lot of time left. Youve got to credit Calgary for playing well, but at the same time weve got to execute better." Neither team could get anything going in the first quarter as the Stamps accounted for just 44 yards in offence, while the Ticats managed only 22 yards. Medlock accounted for all the scoring in the first quarter as he booted a 91-yard single on the opening kickoff before adding a 42-yard field goal with 2:05 left to play in the opening frame. Mitchell then engineered an 11-play, 85-yard drive in the second quarter that was capped off by a 26-yard touchdown run by Sinopoli on a broken play. Mitchell handed the ball off to Sinopoli, who sidestepped onrushing Hamilton linebacker Taylor Reed before running the rest of the way into the end zone untouched. "We got a couple blocks down field and I just tried to make a move and fortunately it turned into a touchdown," said Sinopoli, who was happy to contribute in a winning cause. "It wasnt how we imagined how it would go, but well take the win. Were going to have games like that. Its a long season. That stuffs going to happen. All that matters at the end is the win." Calgary coach and general manager John Hufnagel called Sinopolis touchdown fantastic. "That was something special," Hufnagel said. "It was a play designed that he had a pass-run option, but he never had a chance to look at throwing the ball because he had instant pressure. He made a fantastic move to get away from the first tackler and then juked the second tackler and got himself in the end zone." On the next possession, the Ticats put themselves in a position to respond right back, but Calgary safety Joshua Bell picked off an errant pass by Masoli in the Calgary end zone to end the threat. The Stamps had a chance to extend their lead late in the first half, but a 48-yard field goal attempt by Rene Paredes sailed wide right. Hamilton had a great chance to take the lead in the third quarter when Brandon Banks returned a Rob Maver punt 38 yards to the Calgary 17-yard line. The Ticats then took and offside penalty before Masoli overthrew a pair of receivers in the end zone, prompting Medlock to kick a 30-yard field goal to tie the game at 7-7. On Calgarys next drive, Mitchell fumbled the ball at midfield for his first turnover of the season. Linebacker Frederic Plesius recovered the ball at the Hamilton 54-yard line, but the Ticats were unable to convert the turnover into points as Medlock missed a 45-yard field goal attempt wide right at the outset of the fourth quarter. The Stamps took a 10-7 lead at 8:16 of the fourth quarter when Parades connected from 39 yards out to round out the scoring. Notes: With Keon Raymond (thigh bruise) and Deron Mayo (groin strain) out of Calgarys lineup, Lin-J Shell and Glenn Love started as linebackers for the Stamps. à Calgary cornerback Buddy Jackson left the game with a hamstring injury in the second quarter, while linebacker Juwan Simpson went down with an arm injury in the fourth quarter. à The Stamps lead the all-time series 56-30 over the Ticats, including a 34-9 edge in games played in Calgary. à Calgary ran its winning streak over Hamilton at McMahon Stadium to 10 straight games dating back to July 4, 2004. The Stamps have also won nine of the past 10 games overall against the Ticats dating back to Oct. 3, 2009. Paul Pogba Jersey .com) - James Harden had 32 points, including a tying layup late in regulation, and the Houston Rockets scored eight of their 13 points in overtime at the foul line to beat the Memphis Grizzlies 117-111 on Friday night. Cameron Borthwick-Jackson Jersey . 2015 Oscar nomination pending. Here is an open letter from Steven Stamkos to his fans: When I shot this final Moment Zero film last August, it was a fun few days on set with Coke Zero and Jordan Eberle in my hometown of Markham. http://www.jerseysmanchesterunitedsoccer.com/womens-sergio-romero-manchester-united-jersey/ . -- David Freese is starting to pick up his run production, which is something the Los Angeles Angels have been waiting half a season to see.A year is a long time in the life of a footballer. Christian Eriksen smiles when he thinks back to this time last season. He lived in Amsterdam, where his team Ajax had allowed him to blossom and become one of the genuine young stars in the game. He had joined their famous youth academy in 2008, aged 16, and two years later he was in their first team. That year he was one of 736 players that went to the World Cup in South Africa and he was the youngest of them all. He returned to win three straight Dutch Eredivisie titles with Ajax, during which he had developed into one of the finest young playmakers in Europe. He had become a star in Holland and performed very well on the grandest stage of them all, the Champions League. Still only 21, with one year left on his contract, the Danish creator knew his time with Ajax had come to an end. As the new season started he admits he had multiple offers to choose from. In the end he selected White Hart Lane as the place to continue his growth as a footballer. Now he is a Premier League star. However, the move was not a formality for him. He added: "For me as a person I didnt say yes straight away. I loved it at Ajax and wanted to see what the other possibilities were around me before committing. I decided Tottenham were the best option." Despite his cautiousness, Eriksen acknowledged that the allure of the Premier League is a large one for many players playing in Europe and the pull of London was also a large factor. "Living in London is a pretty big part of it but I am there for the football but, of course, if you are enjoying a good life then it makes it easier for you on the pitch as well." Geography has helped Tottenham in such situations time and time again. They remain a big club, but nowhere near as big for people now in their thirties than those in their sixties, for example. That comes down to the clubs success in the 1960s where for a time they were the standard of English football. Since winning a then record eighth FA Cup in 1991, Tottenham have won just two league cups in the past 23 years, the same as Aston Villa and Leicester City. However, their roots and their location has helped them continuously attract special players to North London, the likes of Ossie Ardiles, Paul Gascoigne, Jurgen Klinsmann, David Ginola; players who have not only been talented but also been pure entertainers as well, who regularly get fans out of their seats. Eriksen looks like he could be the newest member of that class. When the former Ajax playmaker was brought to White Hart Lane at the end of August he was only Tottenhams fourth-most expensive signing of the window; behind Erik Lamela, Roberto Soldado and Paulinho. The day he signed, Tottenham also revealed the capture of Argentine Lamela, for almost three times the amount of Eriksen. If Tottenham wanted to keep the Dane under the radar, captured at a discount because his contract was close to expiring, they were certainly doing a good job at it. The moment he stepped on the field he wasnt under the radar anymore. Eriksen made his debut in Tottenhams fourth game of the season, at home to Norwich, and the team had yet to score a goal from open play. The playmaker took 28 minutes to do what Tottenham couldnt do in 270, putting a perfectly weighted pass in to Gylfi Sigurdsson who opened the scoring. In the second half, Eriksen found himself in his office - the centrall space outside the penalty box - when he switched the play brilliantly to Paulinho on the right side. James Wilson Jersey. It was the kind of pass that most players wouldnt have even seen but seconds later Tottenham extended their lead when Sigurdsson tapped home the Brazilians cross at the back post. When he was taken off after 71 minutes, Eriksen got a standing ovation from his new fans. Its a game Eriksen will never forget. "Of all my experiences from the first season, my debut is very high on that list." Afterwards, his manager Andre Villas-Boas called his new star a pure number ten but less than four months later he had been sacked and replaced by Tim Sherwood. Eriksen nods his head when told about how tough it must have been to play under two very different managers with different philosophies. "It was a bit weird. It was even harder for me because I came a bit late and when I got in everybody was used to Villas-Boas and knew him but for me it was new, I learned a lot and then he was gone and I had to learn again with the change but thats football, you know? Of course you play off the coach but as a player you play for the club and if they make a decision then you have to agree with it." It didnt get in the way of Eriksens form as he went on to become the clubs player of the year, putting in many outstanding performances while also showcasing his versatility as a deep-lying playmaker in a match at Old Trafford where Tottenham countered for both goals, with Eriksen scoring one and creating the other. Eriksen, just like anyone at the club, will not use the manager change as an excuse for Tottenhams inability to crack the top four once again but its clear what he wants when asked how his team needs to improve this season. He said: "The biggest thing we need to improve is to find stabilization and avoid those big losses. We need to improve against the top four – thats probably the main thing. Against the lower teams, where we usually get the points, I think we can continue what we are doing but against the higher ones we should perform better." There is no doubt about that. Last season Tottenham lost 6-0 and 5-1 to Man City and 5-0 and 4-0 to Liverpool. Just how much better they perform will be important, not only for Tottenhams place in the league but their reputation amongst players, notably Eriksen himself. With Denmark not qualifying for Brazil 2014, the 22-year-old was able to enjoy holidays in the Maldives and Dubai with his girlfriend Sabrina, where he didnt have to concern himself with another move. He said he enjoyed returning to a full pre-season with this club for the first time and has been impressed with new boss Mauricio Pochettino. Nevertheless, it is clear that should his career trajectory continue it might be difficult for Tottenham to continue to keep hold of him next summer if they are unable to get into the Champions League. Unusually, Eriksen is a player who has already experienced the emotions of the club games greatest competition before stepping back into the Europa League with Spurs. "The Champions League is great. Things are always much bigger, the ceremony, the press, the fans, its a stage where everyone wants to play and hopefully we will be there next season." One would imagine another standout season for Eriksen would put him next seasons Champions League with or without Tottenham.
